Prayer

Prayer is a powerful thing. It changes the world…one small request can change hundreds, thousands, and millions.  But why should we pray? Is it cause everyone else does it or because our parents tell us to? The Bible says that whatever we ask of Him, He will answer.

But that doesn’t mean he always answers in the ways he wants. God answers in His own timing and in His own ways. We might never understand it…but why should we? God gave us the ability to pray and act. We can’t just pray and think that God will take care of everything. We must live our prayers we must show that we believe God is there even when He doesn’t answer how we think He should.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.

He loves us every time we sin and He forgives us…don’t you think we could at least love and pray and believe even when we want to scream at Him for not “doing” what you ask?

He’s our savior!!!! Just to remind you the definition of savior is: A person who saves someone or something (especially a country or cause) from danger, and who is regarded with the veneration of a religious figure. A person who saves someone or something…Jesus died for you. He went through so much pain and we can’t even just say sorry to our siblings when they mess up. You know God hates hate! He hates it when we yell at our parents or tell our siblings to shut up! God hates sin!

Sin definition: An immoral act considered to be a transgression against divine law. “A sin in the eyes of God”.

“A sin in the eyes of God”, what does God say the definition of sin is?

Mark 7: 20-23 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Sin is any evil thought we have, and did you know that evil can be what you say or think about your sibling or parents?

The point of my post is to remind myself and anyone else that God loves us even when we’re dumb and mess up. So why don’t we take that extra 5 minutes and tell God what we love about Him and thank Him for the gift of prayer and the effect it has.

Prayer is super powerful and it doesn’t just have to happen when we need something.

How many books do you think are too many books in a book series?

I think it depends on the writer! Some writers can really handle book series…other writers I want to scream…….why do people write sequels?????

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

Cliffhangers are awesome IF I have the next part sitting right beside me. Once I was so excited about this cliffhanger and I thought I had book 2, it turns out I had book 3 ‘cries’!!

Hardback or paperback?

Hardback!!! I love the smell new books have and the sound they have when they open!

Favorite book?

Half-Blood – Jaye L. Knight

Least favorite book?

I can’t really think of one but I’d say Soldier On by Vanessa Rasanen

Love triangles, yes or no?

I guess it depends on how the writer handles them!

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

K-9 Korea – the untold story of America’s war dogs in the Korean War by J. Rachel Reed (honestly it just was hard to focus on reading it)!

A book you’re currently reading?

My family just finished reading North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

The Ilyon Series

Oldest book you’ve read?

The Bible (sorry I stole your answer Ani)

Favorite author?

Either Richard Paul Evans or Jaye L. Knight

Buying books!

A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

Not that I’ve read

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

Neither…I try to memorize the page number I stopped at

A book you can always re-read?

hmm I’d have to say any of the Ilyon series!

Can you read while hearing music?

Yes…I try to turn the music up really loud so I don’t hear the noise around me

One POV or multiple POVs?

Multiple…though I hate when there’s so many characters that I get confused!

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

In one sitting definitely

That was so much fun! Thanks again, Ani! And I nominate………..

Ryana Lynn Miller from Life of Heritage

Clay in His Hands

Rosy from Rosy’s Writings

AND

YOU!!

My questions:

Favorite author?

Favorite character (and a little about them)?

Your least favorite book?

Who is your least favorite author?

Can you read while listening to music?

Hardbacks or paperbacks?

Bookmarks or dog-ears?

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

A book you can always re-read?

(Sorry I stole a few of the other questions and I wasn’t sure how many questions to do)!

Let me know if you guys can do it!

The Interesting Advice of a Few Friends

Hi guys! So my sister and I are doing this writing curriculum and one of the projects was to write a story…about the advice of people around you.

Some people’s advice is REALLY good! Other’s not so much! So enjoy this little short story and let me know what you think! (also, sorry about the messed up posting schedule…I’ll be starting afresh next week)!

A young successful carpenter was on his way to a new house project. He called his 3 friends who also built houses and asked them for advice. The first friend told him to pour plastic instead of concrete…as concrete was overrated. Taking the advice of his friend he called in and had the plastic company pour the plastic.

The young man remembered the advice of his second friend and installed the roof before putting up the walls because apparently, that was what everyone was doing! The man cleverly built the roof and propped it up with a few screwdrivers.

Absentmindedly the man remembered what his third friend said, “don’t waste time putting the electricity and plumbing in separately, just do them at the same time”. Stupidly the man followed his advice and BOOM!

Moral of the story: “Don’t trust everyone’s advice.”

Happy Valentines Day!!

Hi Guys! Happy Valentines Day!! Now a while ago if you asked me what Valentines Day meant I would have said that it’s the day everyone gets candy and flowers but it turns out I was wrong…I know it’s hard for me to admit! Anyways I listened to an audio drama a while ago and I was like “Wow, is that true”?? And it turns out it was…so instead of me sharing a bunch of needless info about the day…go listen to Adventures In Odessey The Last “I Do” Album 44 – Eugene Returns – Episode 562

Also please take a moment today and write a note to one of your family members telling them something you love about them and encourage them!!

Author Bio:author image

Sarah Grace Grzy is a voracious reader, and if it weren’t for this crazy thing called ‘Life,’ she’d be tempted to spend all her days in front of a wood stove, book in one hand, coffee mug in the other. A lover of learning, she finds enjoyment in many things and has more hobbies than she knows what to do with. Sarah Grace is a freelance web and graphic designer, and when not working, spending time with her ever-growing family, or reading, she can be found painting, playing the piano, or fangirling with her sisters and friends. She inhabits the State of Great Lakes, and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else—unless it meant she could have a baby penguin, in which case, she’d gladly move to the South Pole.

piper redding - story aesthetic

Piper Redding is a loner, but lonely. Everyone she loves has abandoned her and opening her heart to others is just asking for more pain. She can’t help but blame herself for her brother’s tragic death six years ago, and in her guilt, she shuts herself off from the world. No one could love her—not even the God who promised to be there for her but wasn’t.

ezra bryant - story aesthetic

For paramedic Ezra Bryant, failure is not an option. He’s had enough of it, and only by

God’s grace is he able to put it behind him. But when a traumatic event brings Piper ’s greatest fear and Ezra’s failures to light, can they use that event to allow God to mend their broken pieces? Can love triumph over fear, and grace over guilt?

It’s my Birthday Month!

Hi guys! I just had to do a quick post and tell you guys it’s my birthday month!!! I’ve been counting the days!!! And you’ll never guess what I asked for………….an electric toothbrush, a new radio with a CD player for our family because the old one is skipping, an adapter for my headphones, and a new book!  I’m super excited!!!! This year we’re just staying home and watching movies, playing games (monopoly), and eating a yummy homemade icecream cake…pictures to come later!!! Let’s do a quick recap of my past birthdays:

cabin

<>< On my 14th birthday, I really wanted to go to this cool cabin for a few days so we did! Unfortunately, two days before we left I got the stomach flu so I spent my birthday really sick (that isn’t the photo we took because the weather was really rainy)!

IMG_2572

<>< On my 13th birthday, my parents took me out to eat and I got my promise ring! So fun, (it’s this cute dog bone)!

kettles

<>< My 12th birthday we watched all “The Kettles”(very cheesy) we spent pretty much the whole day watching them and I had ice cream cake but it was so frozen my dad was actually considering getting the chainsaw out!

My 11th birthday was spent in my grandparent’s basement because we were building our house and it wasn’t done yet!

bowling

<>< My 10th birthday was spent bowling! Which was really fun…they gave me this cool bowling pin that said Happy Birthday!

IMG_2582

<>< On my 9th birthday we had a colonial tea party (I made this fun colonial dress…almost all by myself…thanks Mrs. Z.)!

On my 8th birthday my dad built this amazing hay maze which was awesome but the day he showed it to me (the day before my birthday), I had gotten a cavity drilled and I also received a really amazing bike to replace the one I was afraid to ride after I hurt my arm on my other hand-me-down bike. I find it very funny that the most painful memories are the ones we remember the best!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

And I’m sure you’re wondering what I did on my 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st…well I can’t remember! I had to ask my family members about the last 5 birthdays (my memory is fried) all I know is that I turned 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 in the time I don’t remember…its amazing that I know that much!

A few facts about me (the real me behind the blog hahahaha ‘evil laugh’).

  • I have an evil laugh! If you’ve ever watched “The Wizard of Oz” my laugh sounds like that little creepy witch!
  • I’m afraid of stink bugs
  • I’ve accidentally deleted the sound off my computer (if that’s possible let me know…)
  • I’m OCD about dirty glasses (aka the glasses you wear) and windows
  • I hate carrots, squash, beets, olives, and coffee
  • I do everything fast and usually break things or get machines stuck (who knew you could get a mower stuck 10 times in one day…thanks dad)!

Okay! That’s enough annoying facts about me!

See you guys soon!!!!

Prayer Requests page!

Hi guys! So today I was thinking about how prayer works. It’s an amazing thing! Well, I thought…why not start a prayer requests page! You can check it out here or right above this blog post says “Prayer Requests”. We all need prayer and this page is so that you can ask for prayer it will be private unless you say otherwise! But also if you need to just be uplifted with some verses I’ll try!  Now I just want to say I’m not perfect (no one is), I’ve made mistakes but my wonderful parents helped me and prayed for me, I’m so thankful for them and for the way they helped me change my life!

Also, my family recently watched a movie called “Like Arrows” and it was really cool to see a normal family (not a Hallmark family) but a normal family. Now when I say normal I mean the family definitely had their problems and they “tried” to fix them, but it the end prayer and faith in God was what brought the family together again!

Okay, enough of my talking (I mean I go on and on and on and on and on…hehe)!

Note: the Prayer Requests page is for every kind of prayer big or small!!

And just in case you feel sad I thought I’d add a puppy picture to cheer you up! – Thanks, Google!
